Freedom from a Severe Allergy

Freedom. I used to be highly allergic to milk and every derivative of it. To this day, I am still free to eat what I want.

February 2012:

Big News! I am no longer allergic to milk, whey, lactic acid, lactose, butter, casein, etc.

Let me back up for a minute. About a month ago I visited my sister-in-law’s church for a night of worship and prayer. Some people prayed over me for God to heal my back. I didn’t know if anyone had prayed for my food allergy to be gone. So for the last month, I haven’t had any lower back pain at all. I’ve never gone more than two weeks without any back pain. It’s awesome that God did heal me in some way. I haven’t been to the chiropractor either. I’ve never gone this long without an adjustment.

Then ten days later, I was having a rough day at work. I don’t know what came over me but I recall thinking: “I have off from work the next day, so forget it, I’m going to have a tiny sample of frozen yogurt.” I WAS NEVER TEMPTED TO EAT DAIRY. The reaction I got from it was never worth it. So I just went for it and I had a tiny sample of vanilla. Well, I was FINE. My husband and I were surprised, so a couple of days later I tried another sample. To sum up…I tried several samples of yogurt every day last week. On Sunday we were at the grocery store and while we were at the deli counter, my husband took the sample of cheese he was getting and gave it to me. We decided that there was only one way to figure out if I’m still allergic was to eat something different. I ate one slice of cheese which was delicious, as I haven’t eaten it in 3 years.

Later that day I had one Milano cookie. Up until a few weeks ago I couldn’t even lick dairy or let it touch my skin without having a reaction. Now I’ve been eating it every day. I feel FANTASTIC. I haven’t had one stomach cramp or any reaction whatsoever.

Of course I won’t go overboard. I’ve worked hard at staying in shape and I don’t want to ruin it. I also have no desire to eat certain things like milk or butter. I’ll still stick with Almond milk and ask restaurants to not put butter on whatever I order. However, it’s incredibly amazing to know that I can eat it whenever I want. I’ll never have to worry about it again.

I hadn’t told too many people yet because I’ve been experimenting with my diet. Well, I’ve had enough dairy that I would’ve had a reaction by now. So I talked to my sister-in-law last night because I wanted to ask her if anyone prayed about that at the prayer night. She said her husband had been praying that God would heal me. I told her I’ve had dairy for a week and feel awesome. Then in her next text, she told me that he said that the Lord just took the allergy away from me.

I’ve been in awe. I haven’t eaten dairy (on purpose) in 3.5 years. I can’t believe that I can eat it again. Everything tastes soooo good!! P.S. My diagnosis from the doctor was that I had to cut it out of my diet for at least 5 years, and then I could slowly reintroduce it and see how I handle it. If I still got sick from it, I probably couldn’t eat it again. I can almost hear God say: “Take that, science.” 😉
